English
The English Custody module is primarily a tool to allow the processing of arrestees brought into custody by police officers. The module assists police offices and custody sergeants in compliance to legislation such as PACE, where processes are in place within the module to ensure that prisoners are checked at regular intervals, that detainees are released within the statutory time frames and so on. At the heart of custody is the concept of a whiteboard and it is this that drives all the main custody functionality. The whiteboard gives the custody officer information on every prisoner held within the police station; such as cell details, PACE details and when an officer must next visit each prisoner. From the whiteboard, the custody officer can create new custody details, log details of prisoners transferred from other police stations, create charges, cautions, reprimands, warnings, TICs, Public Notice of Disorder (PNDs) and prepare bail details. The Custody module also allows the custody officer to link the custody and case file into any crime report, thus providing a fully integrated data set, the nominal/detainee occurs once only across crime, case and custody. A PNC interface is available, which allows detainee related information to be sent to and from the Police National Database. It also provides an on-line printing facility, enabling the Custody Officer to print all necessary documentation relating to the arrest and charging of detainees. In the last couple of years there have been significant statutory changes that affect the day to day running of a Custody suite. The UNIFI custody suite has had a number of additional layers added to retain compliance with these changes and also to increase the quality of information retained for use within the Intelligence system. ScottishLike the English Custody module this is primarily a tool to allow the processing of arrestees brought into custody by police officers. This Scottish module differs from the English equivalent as it complies with Scottish law with regard to detentions and not the English PACE legislation. Again at the heart of this Custody module is the concept of a Whiteboard. The whiteboard gives the Custody Officer information on every prisoner held within the police station. From the Whiteboard, the Custody Officer can choose to perform the majority of operations within custody i.e. create new records and perform prisoner management activities. Additionally a housekeeping whiteboard is also available which allows users to perform housekeeping tasks on prisoners within the station but not necessarily create new custody records.
