Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF)

SIF

The Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) is a non-profit, joint venture among software vendors, educational agencies, schools, and other partners interested in improving education. SunGard Public Sector has been a member of the SIF initiative since its inception. As such, we are an active participating member of the committees and conferences that shape the direction of this significant venture.

The product of SIF is a technical specification that, when implemented, allows schools to connect compliant software applications together permitting the exchange of data in a real-time, vendor-neutral manner without requiring time consuming exports/imports or redundant, manual data entry. Schools that implement two or more SIF-enabled applications, called “SIF Agents," can expect reduced data entry, reduced costs, improved data accuracy, improved process flow and data security.

SunGard Public Sector offers SIF-certified Agents for our eSchoolPLUS Student Information System. We developed the world’s first Student Information System to be certified as compliant. We were also the first to certify against the new SIF 1.5 specification when it became available.

With the SunGard Public Sector SIF Agent, eSchoolPLUS, student data in multiple applications can be synchronized in real time any time data is added or changed. Combined with other SIF-enabled software, you can have student data flow into your Network Account, Library, Cafeteria/Point-of-Sale (POS), Transportation, Curriculum Management, Telephony, Web Portals, and other software that runs your school – all unattended, fast, and accurate.
